We're nearing the end of summer and I can't be the only one that relocated recently, can I? Many companies choose to move families during the summer to help cut down on the interruption of children's studies mid-school year. That's definitely the tack the military has leaned toward more over the past decade, versus the "you'll go when we tell you to" mentality from my old school Army brat days.
If your family made a major move lately, Ellen Parlapiano wants to hear from you. Here's the email I got from a colleague recently regarding the matter; and yes, I've already shared the teaser of our eventful move with her. Get in touch with Ellen directly if you'd like to be of assistance for her story as well. Read on:
I'm working on a story about families who have made a major relocation (we're talking MAJOR--like moving from a major metropolis to a remote rural area--not merely city-to-city. All major relocations--even from US to Canada or other countries, will be considered). Here are the specifics of what I'm looking for:
Featured families must:
**Have school age kids (preferably with a tween or teen in the mix)--and parents should preferably be in 30s/40s.
**Be willing to discuss all the emotions of the move and how the family was affected by the transition
**Tell me the reason for the move--whether work-related, health-related, or for some other reason. (The reason itself is not so important--We're more interested in the emotions of the move, so we can help other parents in similar situations)
If you have an interesting story to share, please email me ASAP with all the particulars/email address: eparlapiano@optonline.net Thanks so much!

Sounds like a fun project to participate in, Melonie!
