Fortune's 50 Most Powerful Women in Business

nooyi_indra.jpgDo you know this woman?  I didn't either until I popped over to check out the recently released list of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Business for 2007, compiled by Fortune magazine.

It's a list worth reading, ladies.  These are true women leaders; top women in business who have accomplished a great deal.  There are some surprises (no Martha?  Not a 'good thing'!), some newcomers (loved seeing Kathleen Murphy of ING [ING] on there!), and even women from companies like Avon, that encourage, offer opportunities, or assist the work-from-home woman.

So who is the lovely lady shown here?  She's this year's most powerful woman in business: Indran Nooyi of PepsiCo (PEP).

Read on for the top ten list - and no, you won't see my name on there.  *chuckle*

  1. Indra Nooyi, PepsiCo, Inc. (NYSE:PEP)
  2. Anne Mulcahy, Xerox Corporation (NYSE:XRX)
  3. Meg Whitman, eBay Inc. (NASDAQ:EBAY)
  4. Angela Braly, WellPoint, Inc. (NYSE:WLP)
  5. Irene Rosenfeld, Kraft Foods Inc. (NYSE:KFT)
  6. Pat Woertz, Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE:ADM)
  7. Susan Arnold, The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:PG)
  8. Oprah Winfrey, Harpo Inc.
  9. Andrea Jung, Avon Products, Inc. (NYSE:AVP)
  10. Brenda Barnes, Sara Lee Corp. (NYSE:SLE)

Ah well, maybe you'll see me on there next year.  Though it's more likely it'll be Martha.  Wink

The other interesting thing about Indran Nooyi is that she was on the WSJ list of 50 women to watch in 2006 and this year she was named not only one of the most powerful business women, but also one of the most powerful women in the world. I'd say that WSJ hit that one spot on; I'm looking forward to seeing this year's list.

I think its also noteworthy that Indra Nooyi was on the Wall Street Journal's 2006 list of Women to Watch. I'm looking forward to seeing who's on this year's list and seeing the impact they have on business. Go Workerettes!

This is great, I had missed the list. It is really inspiring to watch these women, thanks for this post!
