Do you live paycheck to paycheck? Have you ever had to? More and more Americans are doing it, and finding it harder by the month to make ends meet, according to this AP article I spotted on Yahoo! News today. It would appear that it's not just low-income families having the problem, either. Middle-class folks are finding that the real estate bust and mortgage nightmares are hitting them where it hurts: in their purses, wallets, and pantries.
Those of you who have been popping by Workerette.com for a while know me to be a pretty thrifty gal. I was recently called a "sexist" by another working woman for saying that we gals should know how to cut coupons, shop sales, and make use of rebates to save ourselves cash. That wasn't the lady's only gripe with me, but it was the one I found most shocking. Who wouldn't want to know how to save money "in this day and age"?
Well, for those of you who do live paycheck to paycheck, those who want to learn how to save, and those who fall in both categories - never fear. I'll still do my best to help you sniff out deals, freebies, and rebate opportunities. I hate the thought of sister Workerettes being in an article like that one, wondering how many meals they have to skip to make sure their kids don't go hungry.

Isn't it interesting that someone would call you sexist for that? By saying that a person of a certain demographic (in this case, working women) should possess a certain skill, one isn't saying that people in other demographics shouldn't. I write a blog for people who work from home. I might say they should know how to vacuum. I'm not saying they're the ONLY ones who should know how to vacuum. I'm not saying they should be prepared to be the sole vacuumers in their household. I'm saying it's a useful skill and if they don't already have it, they should acquire it.
I liked your list, and I love the look of your site. Thanks for the tips, and I'll defintely be coming back.
