Whether you're a Workerette juggling a job outside the home, an at-home mom, a work-at-home mom or all of the above *yikes!*, you've probably wondered if a slow cooker would be useful for you. I'm personally learning that the answer is a resounding YES! Even if you aren't a mom (or perhaps, are a gramma or great-gramma), planning ahead can only be a good thing. It makes the budget a little less likely to break, the days a little more efficient, and with recipes like the ones these ladies are sharing, it can make dinner
It's been a while since I posted anything dessert-ish, so I thought it was high time. This one has me thinking fall, tailgating, apple harvest - might be fun for an office potluck or Halloween party, now that I think of it!
What You Need:
- 6 C sliced, peeled tart apples (around 5 large apples)
- 3/4 C packed brown sugar
- 1/2 C all-purpose flour
- 1/2 C quick cooking oats
- 1 - 3.5 oz. package of cook-and-serve butterscotch pudding mix
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 C butter
- ice cream, if you like
What To Do:
- Place apples in a 3-quart slow cooker.
- In a bowl, combine your brown sugar, flour, oats, pudding mix, and cinnamon.
- Cut in the butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Sprinkle the mixture over the top of the apples slices.
- Cover and cook on low for about 5 hours, or until the apples are tender.
- Serve over big scoops of ice cream (I think vanilla bean would be tasty!)
(Side note: to make your desserts easier to scoop and clean up after, try using a slow cooker liner or spray the stoneware insert with non-stick cooking spray.)

Stop it Melonie! You're making me drool. I'll have to try this one sometime.
