For those of you familiar with Works-for-Me Wednesday, it's a day to share tips and tricks that you make use of in your home or work life. Some folks share ideas for saving time, saving money, and keeping things organized. On Backwards Day, it's a time for participants to ask a question of their readers and glean advice from readers' comments. Normally I tend to buck the system and just share something of my own, but this time I actually have a question that I think you Workerettes can help me with:
What resources are available to working women who want to return to college as close to debt-free as possible?
I am considering returning to college to complete my Bachelors degree and earn a Masters as well - and I want to do it with as few student loans as humanly possible. What grants and scholarships are you aware of that I should apply for?
Please take the time to leave as many ideas as you can come up with - even if they don't apply to my schooling choice they may well help another Workerette who wants to continue her education!

When applying for school, also look into applying for FASFA (Pell Grant). Depending on your income and family size, you can recieve either partial assistance or full assistance. I have recieved a full aid package (meaning I conrtibute nothing towards my tuition and books) If I go full time I recieve $2025.00 per semester. They send the funds to the school, the school deducts my tuition and books and I recieve the difference back about 3 weeks after school begins.
But to apply for FASFA you must do so far in advance before classes begin, so if you are looking to start school in the spring you will have to apply soon.
Also visit the Financial Aid office of the school you are going to attend and ask about applying for scholarships they have available that you qualify for.
Good Luck!
