DJ over at Business, Wife & Life tagged me today for a fun "getting to know you" meme. Here are the rules:
1) Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
2) Share 7 facts about yourself.
3) Tag 7 random people and include links to their blogs.
4) Let each person know they have been tagged and comment on their blog.
So here goes nothin', gals! (Make sure you read to the end to see who else is tagged so you can visit them too.)
- I bartered payment for my first job - and I've always been open to bartering in lieu of monetary payment since. The job? I was about 13 years old and worked in a dollhouse shop while my mom worked. Saved her trying to find a sitter to watch me, and since I helped customers and did little odd jobs for the shop owner, she decided to pay me in product. I actually earned a good thousand dollars worth of product in one summer!
- Everyone always assumed I'd be a teacher. I was that horrible kid who assigned homework while playing school. I suppose it did come true in a way - instead of being a professional educator, I'm homeschooling my kids.
- I've been a published writer since middle school. Yep, got in print way back then in the school paper. I should've been the editor - it drove me NUTS to open the paper and see typos and cruddy grammar throughout the thing after all the time I spent polishing my pieces. (Egotistical much? I suppose so.)
- I "did" ten years in retail management. My favorite part? Training my staff and doing scheduling/payroll. My least favorite part? Sales - especially on commission.
- My first pieces published outside of school-affiliated publications were actually poems - in two different anthologies.
- No, I don't write poetry any more. My last poem was, hmm, a good 8 years ago.
- I've been told I should have been a CPA - multiple times - because I truly love doing taxes. Personally I think an IRS auditor would have more fun, but I don't know if I could keep a straight face with the stories some people probably tell while trying to use loopholes (or perceived loopholes) to get away with things.
Here's who I'm tagging:
- SpeechTeach
- Lisa of Homestead Originals
- Bethany at BeppyCat & Co
- Laura at Work From Home Momma
- Monica at SistersinBiz
- Stephanie at Work at Home In Progress
- Deborah at Simply Thrifty
Thanks again to DJ for tagging me so I could join in the fun!
