Woman in Business Creates WorkatHomeWear.com

Working from home is a real job, not a scam.

It's also a source of humor and teasing, as well as misunderstanding by those who are out in the carpool lanes and subway stations instead of padding down the hallway to their desks.  With the growth in legitimate work-from-home opportunities, it's about time we WAH'ers had a uniform other than our bathrobes.  (I think my UPS guy would appreciate that too, frankly.)

DJ Nelson of All Diva Media is here to help!  You may recognize her name from her frequent comments here on Workerette.com and her blog (on my blogroll, yes, down on the right, it's called Business Wife & Life)-  now you can check out her new endeavor.

Better yet, instead of me yammering on, let DJ give you the scoop.  Here's her press release detailing her new project

No, It’s Not a Scam, 4.2 Million Americans Work From Home
Trend is up 100% From 1990

When you hear the words “work from home” what’s the first thing that comes to mind? Do you think of infomercials selling you a dream, or do you picture traditional office workers setting up stations in their homes?

“Whether people are starting their own businesses, or actively seeking out companies who hire telecommuters, flexible work arrangements are becoming a trend,” said DJ Nelson, an entrepreneur who has been working from home since 2003.

In fact, according to the book Microtrends, 4.2 million Americans work from home exclusively.

Nelson continues, “The problem is that because this trend goes against most conventions, sometimes people are skeptical of those who work from home, even to the point of being critical. That’s why I decided to start a website that addresses some of these issues in a lighthearted way.”

WorkAtHomeWear.com seeks to inspire people to be proud that they work from home.

“By providing t-shirts and other merchandise with witty sayings it gives people a way to lighten up the mood when asked what they do, instead of feeling like they need to defend themselves from people who don’t understand that people who work from home are actually working, and making nice amounts of money,” said Nelson.

About The Company: WorkAtHomeWear.com provides apparel and gifts for telecommuters, freelancers, and home business owners. For more information on the trend of working at home, contact DJ Nelson at PR@AllDivaMedia.com
