Whether you're a Workerette juggling a job outside the home, an at-home mom, a work-at-home mom or all of the above *yikes!*, you've probably wondered if a slow cooker would be useful for you. I'm personally learning that the answer is a resounding YES!
Even if you aren't a mom (or perhaps, are a gramma or great-gramma), planning ahead can only be a good thing. It makes the budget a little less likely to break, the days a little more efficient, and with recipes like the ones these ladies are sharing, it can make dinner
One of the things I enjoy about using my Crock Pot is that a lot of the recipes are good for including my daughter in the process. (As a cook, not an ingredient, of course. heehee) So just for fun, I decided to let her choose this week's recipe.
Here's what looked good to her almost-seven-year-old tastebuds:
Shredded Beef Sandwiches (or as she says, "it's a hamburger with only meat that I would gobble right down!")
What You Need:
- 1 boneless beef roast (approx 3 lbs)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 1/3 C white vinegar
- 3 bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp salt (optional)
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/8 tsp garlic powder
- 12 hamburger buns, split
What To Do:
- Cut roast in half and place in slow cooker.
- Combine onion, vinegar, bay leaves, salt (if using), cloves, and garlic powder; pour over roast.
- Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours or until meat is very tender.
- Discard bay leaves.
- Remove meat and shred with a fork; serve on buns.
This one serves 12, obviously. Good to set aside for BBQ season for sure - or if you've still got winter weather, it'd warm you up on a chilly night!

This looks good. Thanks for sharing!
