Just Surfin' Around: Women's Thoughts Worth Reading

sundaysurfin.jpgOh happy day - there's so much to read, learn, and do in the blogosphere this week!  Obviously I've been "wasting" my time reading other folks' blogs since I've been so quiet here on Workerette.  Oops.  *hanging head in shame*

Since it's been a while since we had a big ol' blogtipping, surfin' Sunday type of post, I thought I'd share some of my groovy finds.  All of them are courtesy of women bloggers who range from small business owners to stay-at-home wives to everything in between.

Make sure you leave them loads of comments and tell 'em who sent you - and be sure to leave me links of your own posts, or those you have spotted this week, that are worthy of an old-fashioned blogtip too!

Moving on....

  • Crunchy Domestic Goddess is donating a portion of the sales from her two business sites to the GlobalGiving campaign.  Pop on by and see what you can't resist from her wares - or set up a donation program from your office or business.
  • Lisa of Homestead Originals is giving away a FREE copy of her e-book, Homestead Simplicity: A Primer.  I happen to have edited this gem, so I can tell you straight away that even if you don't consider yourself to be an "official homesteader", there's plenty to learn if you're trying to clean green, become a more organized homemaker, or cook from the heart - homemade.  Get on over and enter, and tell her Mel sent you!
  • Do you have plans to be a June bride this year?  Or any month, for that matter.  *chuckle*  If you're a bride on a budget, as many of us have been, you'll want to check out Bethany's post at BeppyCat & Co. about making your own wedding cake.  Let them eat cake - without going broke!
  • Speaking of brides: Crystal over at Money Saving Mom posted an interesting reader's question about dresses - to preserve or to sellPersonally I planned to preserve the gown from my first wedding, then ultimately chose not to due to the expense.  Now I'm glad I didn't waste the cash.  Wink  For my second wedding I wore some nice clothes that I already owned.  I do suggest that anyone who would like to keep their gown consider just having it cleaned very, very well and then placing the dress in an archival-quality box wrapped in clean, acid-free tissue.  The supplies still aren't cheap, but if you plan to keep it, you might as well keep it nice.  Above all else, just don't leave a gown tied up in the plastic wrap from the store!  (For the record, I donated my unwanted gown to charity.  Some folks asked why I didn't save it for my daughter, but frankly, I felt it disrespectful to "Manly" to haul around the wedding dress from the first go'round during our anticipated military moves!)
  • Now this one is a blog I stumbled across recently and I can't even BEGIN to point you to a favorite post ~ so just go get a Green Mom Finds fix and you'll know what I mean.  All I have to say is green products + giveaways = new addition to my Top 10 Favorite Blogs.  And that is SERIOUSLY saying something, ladies.

Ah...  go and surf, my friends.  Enjoy.  And don't forget to point me to more places to waste time..... er, read in the guise of work.  heh heh
