While we're on the subject of KMM bloggers who are setting themselves apart from the blogosphere crowds, let's give a big Workerette fanfare to Michelle Dunn, who recently released the THIRD EDITION of her award-winning book, Starting a Collection Agency: How to Make Money Collecting Money.
Michelle has spent the last 19 years in the business credit and debt collections industry. She is the author of 6 books on the topic of credit and collections, and has also started her own Credit & Collections Association which has thrived for 10 years and has over 1000 members. Michelle herself was recently awarded the titles of one of the Top 5 Women in Collections and Top 50 Collection Professionals for 2007.
Yes, I think you could say she's a rather accomplished gal! This particular title covers the full gamut of starting a collection agency. Michelle doesn't just focus on the legal logistics (of which there are MANY); she also helps you figure out how to get things up and running in a home office, with the kids around. For anyone out there who would like to head home from a corporate cubicle, or who has been one of the heads "chopped off" during recent layoffs across the country, this may well be the field for you. Read Michelle's KMM blog, BizCreditPolicy.com, and I promise you'll learn gobs, whether you want to enter the credit and collections field, need to know how to collect funds owed to your company, or just want to better understand "how things work" when collectors call you with concerns and settlement offers. It's good stuff. Learn lots!
